Short description of the contract or purchase(s)
The electroporation device is needed for research of pathogenic proteins in cells. A PhD student in the Daniel Otzens group and the BioNMR group at iNANO, Aarhus University, carries out the research. The electroporation device is needed in order to make in-cell NMR samples, which makes it possible to study the protein in the natural environment. The protein, which we want to investigate, is produced in bacteria, which grow in isotope labelled media. This is done in order to label the protein with NMR active isotopes. The pure isotope labelled protein can then be inserted into mammalian cells by electroporation. When the protein is inside the cell we can use NMR to study the protein in the cell without background.
