Section IV: Procedure

IV.1) Description
IV.1.1) Type of procedure
Award of a contract without prior publication of a call for competition in the Official Journal of the European Union in the cases listed below
  • The contract involved is purely for the purpose of research, experiment, study or development under the conditions stated in the directive
  • The works, supplies or services can be provided only by a particular economic operator for the following reason:
    • absence of competition for technical reasons
Explanation:

This equipment can only be bought from 1 supplier. This equipment is unique in the sense that it's able of doing automatic sampling and addition of feeds in larger screening experiments of fed-batch and continuing processes of mammalian cell cultivation. It's possible to connect and integrate other relevant analytical instruments to the ambr15 system. The scale is essential for our work as our analytical work demands sample volumes that smaller scale cannot fulfil and larger scale will demand more manpower and space, which we do not have access to.

The equipment will be used for development of bio-processes for new CHO cell lines. We are in the process of optimizing our laboratory facility and the next step is to enhance our screening capacity of new cell-lines. To balance the available lab space, experimental cost and delivery time including manpower it will be crucial to invest in an automated cultivation workstation to fulfil our main deliveries for the project. The workstation will be used for screening, test and optimization purposes and as so will deliver to all main deliveries described above.
