Purchase of an Advanced Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (NMR) System
The research in the group Differentiated and Biofunctional Foods at the Department of Food Science at Aarhus University wants to buyan advanced Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR) system to support their metabolomics research.
The research in the group Differentiated and Biofunctional Foods at the Department of Food Science at Aarhus University is focused on understanding the composition of foods and how organisms react to food intake by examining biofluid, tissue and in-vitro cells. Thus, we need an advanced Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR) system to support our metabolomics research. The NMR system will allow us to perform metabolomics analyses on biofluids with identification and quantification of metabolites as well as identify components in foods. The system should support our research projects, where we often have more than 300 samples to be analysed.
Demands for the NMR system for nuclear magnetic spectroscopy for measurements of liquid and semi-solid samples:
The department already have a magnet and wish to upgrade existing capabilities. The upgrade will increase our throughput; it is necessary due to requirements for sample storage prior to analysis. Thus, it is essential that the system is compatible with our current UltraShield 600 MHz/54 mm magnet system.
The system should include a 5 mm 1H broadband probe with Z-gradient. The system should be fully automated with respect to metabolomics analyses on human urine, serum and plasma with identifications and quantifications of metabolites. It should be equipped with an automated sample changer with cooling capabilities and having a capacity over 500 samples using both 3 and 5 mm NMR sample tubes. It should incorporate a barcode sample-id tracking system, including barcode printer and reader.
The system should either be compatible with a Bruker PH HR MAS 600 S3 HPCD 4 G probe or supply a new HR MAS probe.
Section IV: Procedure
- The works, supplies or services can be provided only by a particular economic operator for the following reason:
- absence of competition for technical reasons
The market for high field NMR spectrometers are limited to few players (Bruker, Jeol and QOneTec). We have been asking for specs specially from these companies mentioned, however the Bruker console update to AVANCE NEO 600MHz IVDR NMR SPECTR. with addition of cooled sample changer and software automation has the full range of performance for us. Therefore, Bruker is the only commercial supplier that can deliver.

Following the notification, a standstill period of 10 calendar days will be held in accordance to paragraph 3 of Act No 593 of 2 June 2016 on the Danish Act on the Complaints Board for public Procurement. This implies that the contracting authority cannot sign the contract with the winning tenderer before the standstill period has expired.
In case of complaints about tenders or decisions, e.g. award of contracts covered by section II or III in the Danish Public Procurement Act must be submitted to the Complaints Board for Public Procurement (Klagenævnet for udbud) within 45 calendar days from the day after the contractor published a notice in the Official Journal on the conclusion of a contract. At the latest concurrently with submission of an appeal to the Complaints Board for Public Procurement, the complainant must inform the contracting authority of the alleged infringement and whether the appeal is to be referred to the board.
