Reference number: 2020-0184613
II.1.2) Main CPV code
38000000 Laboratory, optical and precision equipments (excl. glasses)
II.1.3) Type of contract

II.1.4) Short description:

Department of molecular biology and genetics at Aarhus University wants to purchase a Cryo-Correlative Light Electron Microscopy (Cryo-CLEM) system. The system will be used for localizing fluorescently labeled areas of interest in cryogenically cooled biological samples, in order to enable subsequent targeted cryo-electron microscopy or cryo-electron tomography of those areas. A complete cryo-CLEM system consists of a fluorescence microscope, a cryo-stage, and a software package that enables transfer of image data between the fluorescence microscope and the given electron microscopes that are to be used together with the cryo-CLEM system. We do not have an existing fluorescence microscope that can be retooled to make it usable in a Cryo-CLEM set-up. A key aspect is therefore that the system to be procured must be a complete system that contains a fluorescence microscope in addition to the cryo-stage and software package.

II.1.6) Information about lots
This contract is divided into lots: no
II.1.7) Total value of the procurement (excluding VAT)
Value excluding VAT: 1 300 000.00 DKK
II.2) Description
II.2.2) Additional CPV code(s)
33000000 Medical equipments, pharmaceuticals and personal care products
II.2.3) Place of performance
NUTS code: DK042 Østjylland
Main site or place of performance:

Aarhus.

II.2.4) Description of the procurement:

The Cryo-CLEM system must have the following specifications:

1) It must be a complete system with fluorescence microscope, a cryo-stage, and a software package that are compatible with our Thermo Fischer Scientific Titan Krios cryo-transmission electron microscopes. This will ensure that the system is usable in our existing set-up.

2) The cryo-stage must be of a closed type in order to minimize contamination during transfers between the fluorescence microscope and the electron microscopes. This is crucial for obtaining high-resolution cryo-transmission electron microscopy data.

3) The fluorescence microscope should have a dry objective with a numerical aperture of at least 0.9 to enable high resolving power, and the software should have a deblurring feature. This will ensure that the fluorescently labeled areas of interest can be mapped with sufficient precision.
