    • absence of competition for technical reasons
Explanation:

There are no other systems offering to record simultaneously from 4 096 electrodes, covering up to 26.2 mm2 while maintaining a signal-tonoise ratio of >20dB. There are no other MEA systems featuring 4 096 fully bidirectional electrodes capable of recording and stimulating from all the electrodes. These are crucial features to perform high quality experiments with brain slices, neuronal cultures, and brain organoids.

For my research project this device is essential to investigate the downstream consequences of the brain organoids derived from human induced pluripotent stem cells on neuronal network activity. These experiments are closely interlinked and cannot be achieved without the BioCAM Duplex.

BioCAM Duplex is based on a CMOS-MEA technology that is patented (EP1278064A1), produced, and sold only by 3Brain AG.
