Field Robot to the Department of Agroecology, Aarhus University
Department of Agroecology (AGRO), Aarhus University wants to buy an Agrointelli Robotti 150D Field Robot to duplicate the field robot already in use at the department.
The robot will be used in field experiments at AGRO, this includes many different agricultural crops, cropping systems and managements in the field.
For this, the robot must be able to handle a variety of implements and sensors
Flakkebjerg
AGRO wants to buy a new field robot that will be used in new field experiments aimed at robot technology (duplicating research that has started at our facilities at AU Flakkebjerg), and in ongoing field experiments.
It is important that the two robots are identical, to be able to compare results at the two sites.
We must be able to collect the same type of data from the two robots
Sensors must be interchangeable between the two robots
Must be able to work on 300 cm wide tramlines (Wheel-center distance 300 cm)
PTO with at least 20 kW at 540 RPM and 40 kW at 1000 RPM
A three point linkage that fits standard implements
There are four major requirements to the robot that AGRO requires.
1) AGRO has a need for a robotic implement carrier that solves a wide range of tasks because of the many-folded research tasks ranging from complex experiments to large-scale organic- and conventional farming. Thus, the field robot must be able to handle a wide array of implements and operational conditions.
2) Acquisition of data regarding crop growth is necessary in the type of research AGRO supports. Thus, the robot should serve as a sensor-carrying platform, and the robot-supplier should have experience in system-integration and development of such vision systems. It has furthermore a high priority that frames mounted with different sensorsystems can be moved from on robot to the other and especially the the GPS and power connections are similar for the two robots.
3) The robot must be commercial and proven to be reliable, as AGRO has no engineering capacity to develop advanced technology.
4) Access to fast and reliable support as well as development of new implements is crucial, as the nature of the field experiments require continuously new implement setups and a fully functional robot constantly.
The field robot “Robotti” from the company Agrointelli has been identified as the absolute most optimal vehicle to comply with the four requirements presented above. The robot appears in every way to be more agile and flexible than other commercial and relevant field robots such as Agxeed (Netherland), Naïo (France) and Farmdroid (Denmark). These robots are specialized and 'task oriented' solutions that covers significantly fewer of the key tasks AGRO faces, whereas Robotti is more oriented to solve a broad range of field operations from crop establishment to harvest in experimental plots as well as large fields.
Agrointelli, in contrast to many other companies, has a focus on developing new technological solutions within Vision, Automation and Navigation to collect and process images acquired at operations. Thus, Robotti and Agrointelli is superior to other robots and companies when it comes to the use of sensors and imagery to describe crop growth. In addition, Agrointelli has proven efficient in their product support as well as capability to integrate new implements to the robot. Agrointelli technicians can be present physically at the research farm within short time when problems with the robot cannot be solved remotely, or if quick modifications of the hardware setup are needed. AGRO needs this support in a close range geographically, so that the robot does not malfunction for longer periods, which may be detrimental for the outcome of a field experiment.
Section IV: Procedure
- The works, supplies or services can be provided only by a particular economic operator for the following reason:
- absence of competition for technical reasons
The combination of requirements described above are fulfilled exclusively by one supplier. The possibility that there are other potential suppliers who could deliver the same has been objectively excluded by market consultations.

Following the notification, a standstill period of 10 calendar days will be held in accordance to paragraph 3 of Act No. 593 of 2 June 2016 on the Danish Act on the Complaints Board for public Procurement. This implies that the Contracting Authority cannot sign the Contract with the winning Tenderer before the standstill period has expired.
In case of complaints about tenders or decisions, e.g. award of contracts covered by Section II or III in the Danish Public Procurement Act must be submitted to the Complaints Board for Public Procurement (Klagenævnet for Udbud) within 45 calendar days from the day after the contractor published a notice in the Official Journal on the conclusion of a contract. At the latest concurrently with submission of an appeal to the Complaints Board for Public Procurement, the complainant must inform the Contracting Authority of the alleged infringement, and whether the appeal is to be referred to the board.
