Differential Scanning Calorimeter
This project investigates a thermodynamic liquid-liquid phase transition behavior in phase change materials. We need to measure the thermodynamic response functions such as heat capacity during the phase transition. The heat capacity cp is a measure of the entropy fluctuations, which should show a maximum at the temperature of the expected phase transitions.
A ultrafast differential scanning calorimetry is need to measure the heat capacity of the samples. To avoid crystallization of the samples, the calorimeter must meet the following requirements:
1) ultrafast heating/cooling up with a rate 105 K/min.
2) the temperature range must be from room temperature to 1000 C.
3) measure tiny powder samples less than a few micrograms

The combination of requirements described above are fulfilled exclusively by one supplier. The buyer has surveyed the leading manufacturers of differential scanning calorimeters. So far there is no other comparable instrument in the market.
