Acquisition of equipment for performing Imaging mass cytometry - 2022-0378415
The Department of Biomedicine at Aarhus University wishes to purchase an Imaging mass cytometer for the acquisition of multidimentional data on protein levels with spatial resolution. We want to purchase an imaging mass cytometer that that can be added to the core mass cytometry equipment already running in the department (Helios, Flidigm). This is a requirement for the data collection process of the Imaging mass cytometer. The new equipment will allow us to visualize more than 30 proteins at the same time in tissue slides, and will hence give unprecedented insight into the molecular mechanisms that drive disease processes in living organisms.
Visualization of multiple markers in tissue has a great potential in many different applications, but it is difficult to obtain visualization on multiple markers simultaneously among others due to the spectral overlap between fluorophores. With the purchased of the Imaging mass cytometry module to the existing Helios platform we will have the ability to study tissue with a subcellular resolution gaining insight into the microenvironment at single cell level. Imaging mass cytometry allows simultaneously detection and enables analysis of more than 40 parameters in tissue and cell smear without the need for spectral compensation or subtraction of auto-fluorescent background.
Full list of requirements:
1) Be fully integrated with existing mass cytometry platform, Helios
2) <1 m ablation spot size of solid tissue, or cells on slides
3) Up to 52 elemental tags for analysis without re-staining (135 channels available)
4) Rastering speed of 200 pixels/second
5) 0.3% sensitivity for 159Tb
6) Detection limit of 400 antibody copies per m2
7) Dynamic range of 4 orders of magnitude
8) Automated calibration
9) Ability to visualize protein with no autofluorescence and with minimal/no spectral overlap
10) Ability to detect protein simultaneously with RNA
Section IV: Procedure
- The procurement falls outside the scope of application of the directive
The combination of requirements described above are fulfilled exclusively by one supplier. The possibility that there are other potential suppliers who could deliver the same has been objectively excluded by market consultations. The Hyperion is unique in being fully compatible with the Helios platform that we have, and for allowing detection of more than 40 elemment-labelled tags with high sensitivity, speed, and pression. Also, possession of Imaging Mass Cytometry equipment is required in order to be able to obtain multiparameter information with high spatial resolution on proteins in virus-infected organs and tissues. This is a requirement for our research on mechanisms underlying viral diseases

Following the notification, a standstill period of 10 calendar days will be held in accordance to paragraph 3 of Act No. 593 of 2 June 2016 on the Danish Act on the Complaints Board for public Procurement. This implies that the Contracting Authority cannot sign the Contract with the winning Tenderer before the standstill period has expired.
In case of complaints about tenders or decisions, e.g. award of contracts covered by Section II or III in the Danish Public Procurement Act must be submitted to the Complaints Board for Public Procurement (Klagenævnet for Udbud) within 45 calendar days from the day after the contractor published a notice in the Official Journal on the conclusion of a contract. At the latest concurrently with submission of an appeal to the Complaints Board for Public Procurement, the complaint must inform the Contracting Authority of the alleged infringement, and whether the appeal is to be referred to the board.
