Section II: Object
Acquisition of a cryo-probe NMR instrument by the Department of Chemistry
For use in research in advanced NMR spectroscopy, we need an instrument capable of working at a broad range of temperatures while retaining very high measurement sensitivity. The proposed instrument as specified provides unparalleled technical and scientific capabilities for the execution of advanced experiments probing molecular structure and dynamics that would be impossible without simultaneous access to a broad temperature range in concert with very high sensitivity.. Backwards compatibility with existing NMR instruments will allow for sharing of accessories between instruments.
Bruker 500 MHz NMR spectrometer equipped with a cryogenically-cooled triple-resonance H/C/N probe
Section IV: Procedure
- The works, supplies or services can be provided only by a particular economic operator for the following reason:
- absence of competition for technical reasons
University of Copenhagen is a research and educational university in Denmark and the oldest university in the nation. The new NMR spectrometer will enable the advanced experiments probing molecular structure and dynamics under a wide temperature regime, with very high sensitivity.
For our research work in execution of advanced experiments on molecular dynamics and structure, we need an instrument that allows for flexible and precise Temperature control over a broad temperature range, while maintaining very high sensitivity. Further, backwards compatibility with existing NMR infrastructure is essential for the efficient use of the facilities.
We have researched the marked and found that the only instrument that fulfills our need is a Bruker 500 MHz NMR spectrometer, as specified below.
We request a 500 MHz cryogenically-cooled triple-resonance H/C/N probe with high sensitivity, wide variable-temperature (VT) range, and strong Z-gradient.
In particular, we request the following specifications:
1H S/N (0.1% EB): 5100:1 or better
13C S/N (ASTM): 850:1 or better
2H S/N (10% D2O/90% H2O): 8000:1 or better
Gradient strength: 60 G/cm or better
VT range: at least -40 to +150 C
