Gas Chromatography High Resolution Mass Spectrometry (GC-QTOF MS)
DTU will like to buy a High Resolution (QTOF) gas chromatography (GC) mass spectrophotometer for target and untargeted screening approaches as well as unknown compound identification of challenging food matrices.
Kgs. Lyngby
DTU will like to buy a High Resolution (QTOF) gas chromatography (GC) mass spectrophotometer for target and untargeted screening approaches as well as unknown compound identification of challenging food matrices.
Instrument includes a gas chromatograph (GC 8890) equipped with a PAL3 RTC autosampler for sample injection and backflush option for sample introduction to a high resolution mass spectrometer. The GC has one split/splitless inlet and one PTV inlet to introduce larger sample sizes than 1-2 µl. The high resolution mass spectrometer (Resolution) is based on a quadrupole (Q) combined with Time of Flight (TOF) (GC/QTOF 7250) improving the mass accuracy of identified compounds (results of up to four digits), relevant for target and un-target identification. The mass spectrometer is equipped with a low energy capable EI source with ion focusing resulting in the possibility of additional information for identification without having to change ion source.
Mass spectrometer includes an oil free fore pump. Instrument control includes a computer with Mass Hunter software, corresponding mass profiler software. Purchase includes relevant mass Libraries as well as installation and 3 days of training.
Options for PAL 3 RTC Series II autosampler
Helium Conservation Module
Nitrogen Gas Generator
Wiley MS Library Software (including NIST)

Section IV: Procedure
- The works, supplies or services can be provided only by a particular economic operator for the following reason:
- absence of competition for technical reasons
The instrument fulfill our needs for high resolution target and non-target screening as well as accurate mass identification of GC-amenable contaminants in food, feed, food packaging, novel, sustainable and other biomaterials. The low energy EI and the high accuracy acquisition based on QTOF is needed for identification of new substances in food, feed and food packaging materials during non-target screening. Acquiring data at low electron volt without change of ion source is necessary for identification of the molecular ion and thereby identification of new substances which is relevant for all our research in knowing the unknowns in a sample e.g. in food contact materials. This instrument will ease the extension of existing accredited target methods (from existing old instrument).
We are aware that a GC-Orbitrap (based on another ionisation principle) has the same high resolution characteristics, however such an instrument is already available in the laboratory and the two ionisation principles must be used as supplement to each other with compound information in our research.
