The Novo Nordisk Foundation Centers for Protein Research and Stem Cell Medicine along with the Department of Cellular Medicine are housed within the University of Copenhagen. The NFF centers cooperate on several technology platforms to ensure expert support and help with novel technologies. ICMM has recently chosen to join the shared genomics facility. The three parties are each focusing in their specific field on identifying basic biology with the potential to improve the medical science and patient care.

We are planning to acquire two Illumina NextSeq2000 sequencers to boost our ability to bridge the sequencing depth requirements for bulk and single-cell applications within our joined genomics platform. The desire is to run a system that allows to bridge between low end runs (approx. 500-600 million reads) up to lower high-end runs (2 billion reads). The NextSeq2000s will be serviced within the shared genomics facility.

Explanation:

Due to the modular design of the NextSeq2000 sequencer, this instrument is currently the only instrument allowing for the provision of different input/output modes providing flexible sequencing depths between 500 – 2,000 million base pair reads.

Illumina patent rights. Thus, Illumina represents the sole provider of the desired technology.
