We are planning to buy a 10x Genomics Chromium X to increase the capacity in our core facility. We already have one 10x Genomics Chromium X instrument that service more than 100 independent users. The key - and therefore unique - factor is that we are improving the capacity and need to have an identical instrument so users, with developed protocols, freely can choose between the two instruments.

II.2.4) Description of the procurement:

The core facility for Flow Cytometry and Single cell Analysis is housed within the Department of Immunology and Microbiology, University of Copenhagen. The facility was launched in 2010 by transferring instruments from the department to the core facility. The core facility service app 500 users that take advantage of our instruments and have developed their protocols over the past 12 years to fit our instrumentation. We are planning to buy a 10x Genomics Chromium X to increase the capacity in our core facility. We already have one 10x Genomics Chromium X instrument that service more than 100 independent users. The key - and therefore unique - factor is that we are improving the capacity and need to have an identical instrument so users, with developed protocols, freely can choose between the two instruments.

Explanation:

The purchase of the Chromium X is important to improve our capacity in the facility. It is crucial for the core facility to provide a setup that allows us to provide identical instruments for the user to operate with the same protocols.

We are buying a second Chromium X to expand the capacity in our facility. Many users are already using the technology, and have developed protocols for the instrument, thus we need to make sure we have identical instruments, for the user to be free to operate on both if needed. Development of protocols for this technology is very expensive and we need to make sure users don’t have to go through that process again, since they already have a lot of data, which need to be compared to data acquired on the new instrument.
