Acquisition of a Zeiss AxioImager M2 MOT Microscope
Since 2018, CBMR’s research has been structured
through four Research Programs that move from
genes, through molecules and mechanisms, to
translational science and back again to capture the
unique strengths of the Center scientists and the
Copenhagen research environment. The strategic
objective of “Nutrient and Metabolite Sensing” is to
characterize the role of nutrient metabolite sensing
and hormone tissuekine signal integration in
maintaining metabolic health and as potential targets
to treat metabolic disease.
The procurement is meant to be an expansion of our
Epifluorescence microscopy capacity, and therefore
the configuration should be compatible with our
existing ZEISS Epifluorescence Microscope,
especially regarding the camera interface and the ZEN
software.
Section IV: Procedure
- The works, supplies or services can be provided only by a particular economic operator for the following reason:
- protection of exclusive rights, including intellectual property rights
- Additional deliveries by the original supplier ordered under the strict conditions stated in the directive
AxioImager: Instrument components or methods are protected by patents and registered utility models:
DE29821694
The ZEN software is exclusive for ZEISS to sell.
The intended procurement complements the existing Zeiss Epifluorescence microscope in our facility. The new systems must be identical to this to ensure internal comparability, data reproducibility as well as alignment with existing systems. Furthermore, it is essential to enable the use
of the same ZEN software, already purchased with the existing microscope to avoid purchasing similar but not identical software. Our existing Zeiss Epifluorescence microscope is heavily booked, and the users are trained using the Zen software. General
characteristics for the new microscope setup is a 1:1 hardware match regarding motorization, camera interface and quantitative software to already existing microscope. Experiments and data from the two microscope systems must be comparable and with same data format. The objective is to set up a new microscope allowing quantitative and quantification experiments comparable to already existing microscope setup. The autofocus must work with transmitted, reflected and fluorescence light same camera interface. Definition of an autofocus region in the camera image based on the same camera from both microscopes.
