Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research (CBMR) was established in 2010 at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.

The vision is to strengthen interdisciplinary research that transforms the basic understanding of the mechanisms involved in metabolic health and disease, and to accelerate this knowledge toward new prevention and treatment strategies.

II.2.4) Description of the procurement:

The main reason for the upgrade is that it will then be possible to use the “tims-function” (trapped ion mobility) in a more efficient way in our lipidomic and metabolomics applications. Current version of the “tims-part” of the LC-MS instrument has limitations in using it at lower masses, which is the case for metabolomics and lipidomics analyses. The upgrade will also gain sensitivity, speed and robustness in tims-on measurements.

The works, supplies or services can be provided only by a particular economic operator for the following reason:
- absence of competition for technical reasons
Additional deliveries by the original supplier ordered under the strict conditions stated in the directive

Explanation:

Only Bruker can deliver this upgrade, as it is a dedicated Bruker feature for timsTOF Pro instruments.

The upgrade of the instrument can be integrated directly into the existing timsTOF systems as our remaining instrument will not be replaced. Extra features such as electronics and flight tube will be added. By this we ensure internal comparability, data reproducibility etc.

The upgrade must be done by Bruker to ensure internal comparability, data reproducibility etc. In addition, there is an economic advantage in having an upgrade instead of buying new equipment. Including in the upgrade is a dedicated training course on the use of the upgraded version on tims.
