Section II: Object
1 (one) MicroCT skanner
At Department of Clinical Medicine, AU, there are dedicated laboratories for animal research. We will use microCT for both general anatomy (to quantify tissue/organ structures) and we will use special iodine-preparations to enhance
soft-tissue image contrast. Besides, we will use functionalized molecules (visible with microCT) that will bind to specific cells (for example tumor cells), in order to make images of specific cells and cellular structures.
The microCT will also be used on excised bone and soft tissues from dead humans, in particular for bone characterization (bone strength). Furthermore, research in anthropological and museum items (human bones and skeletal) requires a
spectral microCT. Finally, microCT scanning is used as a tool for visualizing and quantifying soil structure at micro to decimeter scale and to obtain unique possibilities for advancing our insight into soil structure and function as well as
and soil structure/plant interaction.
AU requires a microCT system that is flexible, modular and become upgraded in future to accommodate evolving needs. The system must enable high throughput of many different types of materials and sizes.
The system must be able to be upgraded to enable elemental detection, by future adding required detectors and software, without sending the total microCT system back to the factory.
There will be many users on the proposed system, so a fast scan time is required to enable a high data throughput. "True" in-situ capabilities is required for some of the major users.
We have set the following requirements for data acquisition:
• Temporal resolution of <10 seconds
• continuous rotation during acquisition, which also needs to be possible during in-situ experiments
• spatial resolution: 3 um
• upgradable to spectral-CT capability
• must have a high flux x-ray source (>250 W and 30-180 keV)
• must have high speed flat panel detector with up to 100 fps read out modes
• Max sample size (Ø x h): 600 mm x 1150 mm, max weight: 45 kg
Section IV: Procedure
- The works, supplies or services can be provided only by a particular economic operator for the following reason:
- absence of competition for technical reasons
Aarhus University has thouroughly searched the market and found that only one supplier is able to deliver the system fulfilling the requirements. The only system that fulfils all the requirements is CoreTOM from TESCAN. It is the only system on the market that offers the novel technology called SpectralCT and includes novel in-situ solutions.

Following the notification, a standstill period of 10 calendar days will be held in accordance to paragraph 3 of Act No. 593 of 2 June 2016 on the Danish Act on the Complaints Board for public Procurement. This implies that the Contracting Authority cannot sign the Contract with the winning Tenderer before the standstill period has expired.
In case of complaints about tenders or decisions, e.g. award of contracts covered by Section II or III in the Danish Public Procurement Act must be submitted to the Complaints Board for Public Procurement (Klagenævnet for Udbud) within 45 calendar days from the day after the contractor published a notice in the Official Journal on the conclusion of a contract. At the latest concurrently with submission of an appeal to the Complaints Board for Public Procurement, the complainant must inform the Contracting Authority of the alleged infringement, and whether the appeal is to be referred to the board.
