Section II: Object
Acquisition of a Vilber Smart Imaging Newton 7.0 FT500
The core facility for Flow Cytometry and Single cell Analysis is housed within the Department of Immunology and Microbiology, University of Copenhagen. The facility was launched in 2010 by transferring the instruments from the department to the core facility. The core facility service app 500 users that take advantage of our instruments and have developed their protocols over the past 12 years to fit our instrumentation.
We are planning to buy a Newton 7.0 FT500 as replacement of a 12 year old PerkinElmer IVIS instrument owned by the department and used to service more than 100 independent users. The key - and therefore unique - factor is the f/0.70 aperture in the instrument, which no other company can provide.
We need an instrument with as wide an aperture as possibly, since several of our users are looking for early metastasis and a low aperture will help to collect more light and thus increase the sensitivity of the instrument.
Section IV: Procedure
- The products involved are manufactured purely for the purpose of research, experiment, study or development under the conditions stated in the directive
- The works, supplies or services can be provided only by a particular economic operator for the following reason:
- absence of competition for technical reasons
The purchase of the Newton 7.0 FT500 allow a higher sensitivity than what we can get on other instruments, and because of the zoom function, we can run 5 mice with high sensitivity, which increase the throughput of the instrument. Only company that can supply a f/0.70 in their instrument. Only instrument where 5 mice can be analyzed in high resolution mode, with maximum sensitivity. Camera is front illuminated with grade 0, meaning no dead pixels in the image, which can be the case in other instruments.
