Formulatrix F.A.S.T
Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research (CBMR) was
established in 2010 at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of
Copenhagen.
The vision is to strengthen interdisciplinary research that transforms the basic
understanding of the mechanisms involved in metabolic health and disease, and to
accelerate this knowledge toward new prevention and treatment strategies.
The main reason for purchase of two identically instruments is that it will be possible for
us run the Olink HT Explore setup in a more efficient way and use the instruments in both
pre and post PCR.
The Formulatrix FAST is an automated, fast, highly accurate liquid handler, which is used
within the HT explore protocol from Olink to perform sample dilution and incubation. In
the Olink setup there are some strict requirements regarding pipetting, accuracy and speed
that must be fulfilled to successfully perform this setup.
The instrument must be compatible with Eppendorf´s twin.tec-384-well plates, have ultra
low dead volumes and have a rapid plate pipetting motion and tip exchange
Section IV: Procedure
- The products involved are manufactured purely for the purpose of research, experiment, study or development under the conditions stated in the directive
- The works, supplies or services can be provided only by a particular economic operator for the following reason:
- absence of competition for technical reasons
Today there is only one instrument that is
optimized and validated to run both pre and
post PCR in the Olink HT Explore setup.
Furthermore Formulatrix provide on-site
user training, tailored to the specific needs
for the Olink HT Explore setup. This
training helps ensure that the experiments
are conducted consistently and according to
the established Olink protocol, which is
crucial for maintaining the quality and
reliability of research output.
Another important argument is that we want
to standardize the Olink HT explore setup
between the instruments and be able to use
both instruments in pre or post setup in case
of workload/high throughput. The 2 new instruments must be identical to
ensure internal comparability, data
reproducibility etc. In addition, there is an
economic advantage in having the same type
of equipment as spare parts can be used
across equipment. As CBMR is a large
Center with several users of the F.A.S.T it is
also important that the many users can
switch between the 2 instruments without
further training
