In order to complete a new project, Aarhus University needs to purchase equipment for single cell sequencing. The project requires analysis of many thousands of cells, and this can only be done by using a technology where small drops are formed in which individual cells are analyzed individually. The method of this is called ‘drop seq’ and is developed by Macosko, Even Z., al. (Cell 161.5 (215): 1202-1214. The method is commercialized by Dolomite Bio, which supplies a complete system (scRNA-Seq System) consisting of three single channel pressure pumps, high-frequency microscope / camera, microfluidic glass chips, computer and software.
There are other manufacturers that make equipment for single cell sequencing, but these are not suitable for the project as they can not handle a large number of cells.
