II.2.4) Description of the procurement:

The contracting authority has a large database of existing confocal images generated at an existing Zeiss system, and in a new system the ability to compare and process older images together with new confocal images is a necessity, thus microscope software must be backwards compatible with Zen 2009 Zeiss software.

Other demands are the capability to study live cells in a temperature and CO2 controlled environment. High resolution confocal images at single z-planes is needed, thus microscope must have the capability to generate confocal images at 140 nm resolution in single confocal z-planes.

Summarized the confocal microscope needs the following properties:

Point scanning confocal with pixel reassignment super resolution

‘Fast Galvano Scanners’ for live imagining application. ‘linearized scan’ technic, up to 6000pix x 6000pix resolution

Detector: 2 x Gallium Arsenide Phosphide (GaAsP)-PMT detectors.

Detector: 1 x GaAsP, 32 elements detector, for ‘pixel reassignment technic’, for ‘high resolutions’ image applications.

2 Variable secondary dichroics, for optimal spectral separation I application.

CO2 incubator around microscope.

Objectives with DIC phase contrast.

In the opinion of the contracting authority only the considered microscope from Zeiss fulfils these requirements.
