We intend to purchase an instrument for measuring isotopic composition (delta-C13) of both CO2 and CH4 by online cavity-ringdown spectroscopy. At the same time, an accurate concentration data of CH4 and CO2 must be provided. The instrument will be used for monitoring and distinguishing the biochemical pathways leading to the production of CH4 and CO2 in livestock waste and other biomasses. The instrument will be used in the field and must be able to measure with a response time of <1 minute. For concentration measurements, the instrument must have a precision deviation of <1 ppm for CO2 and <100 ppb for CH4 at typical measurement conditions. The precision deviation in delta-C13 must be less than 1 per mille (0/00) for combined measurements.

Only one suppler, Picarro Inc, has been identified that can deliver an instrument with the abovementioned performance criteria and with the ability to combine CO2 and CH4 measurements in one instrument.

We, therefore, conclude that the only relevant supplier is Picarro.
