II.1) Scope of the procurement
II.1.1) Title:

The Hawk system

II.1.2) Main CPV code
38000000
II.1.3) Type of contract
Supplies
II.1.4) Short description:

The proposed equipment will be an essential part of the Lithospheric Organic Carbon Laboratory (LOCL), focusing on hydrocarbon geoscience, environmental, and climate research.

The purpose of the research is to provide quantitative measurements of various organic and inorganic carbon in the small solid samples (less than 150 mg) to measure volatile hydrocarbon, kerogen, refractory carbon, siderite, calcite, dolomite, thermal maturity and kinetic parameters of the solid sedimentary samples.

II.1.6) Information about lots
This contract is divided into lots: no
II.1.7) Total value of the procurement (excluding VAT)
Value excluding VAT: 50 000.00 USD
II.2) Description
II.2.1) Title:
II.2.2) Additional CPV code(s)
II.2.3) Place of performance
NUTS code: DK
II.2.4) Description of the procurement:

— the proposed system measures accurately the reproducible rock pyrolysis parameters such as S1 (free oil), S2 (kerogen yield), S3, S4 and Tmax (maturity) together with Total Organic Carbon (TOC), and Carbonate Carbon (CC) content.

— the unique ability to start the iso-pyrolysis at the lowest possible temperature of 50 C which is essential for the intended EOR research that involves accurate measurements of the volatile hydrocarbon (carbon number 4 to 5 organic compounds). Also in the intended environmental research, it is very important the measures ultra-labile organic lipids at this ideally low iso-temperature of 50-degree centigrade. This functionality is unique and no other vendors can provide. Please note that it is not only the temperature adjustment. This superb functionality is achieved due to fundamental structural design and assembly of this instrument which uniquely ensures perfect alignment and sealing so that volatiles that is thermally released early from the sample is not lost during low-temperature pyrolysis and hence they are measured accurately.

— the Hawk system uniquely provides the capability of multiple-point calibrations as well as the addition to the typical single-point calibration. This is very important for the integrity of the research grade analysis we are intending to conduct. No other vendors provide such a capability.

— the Hawk has an automatic sample loading capacity of 126 sample crucibles. This is more than two times of the capacity of the competing Vinci, Rock-Eval 6 analysis. This provides superb efficiency to analyse the large number of samples and will save a significant amount of the technician time.

— the Hawk instrument uniquely provides functionality to integrate and quantify the calcite, dolomite, siderite separately rather than the total mineral carbon content provided by the competitor. This is a superb functionality, absolutely essential in my research program.
