Indkøb af ion chromatograph
The Department of Environmental Science is going to buy a new ion chromatograph (IC) to be used for determination of polar organic compounds in different environmental matrices (water, soil and biota).
The instrument will be hyphenated with an existing Thermo Scientific high-resolution mass spectrometer (HRMS) for non-target analysis of polar organic compounds in environmental samples (screening for unknown compounds) and for target quantitative analysis. Environmental matrices are generally quite complex and organic compounds are often present at very low concentrations. Thus, an instrument used for these analyses must be capable of providing high sensitivity and, at the same time, high mass accuracy in order to identify the organic compounds with a high degree of confidence. High mass accuracy and high sensitivity are also necessary for quantitative target analysis of compounds that are not amenable with normal LC-MS because of e.g. interferences from similar groups of chemicals. Moreover, the exact IC-HRMS hyphenation offered by Thermo Scientific will provide ready operation within currently applied software suites.
The proposed configuration is to be hyphenated with a HRMS to be run seamless under Chromeleon® software as all necessary auxiliary pumps, etc. needed for this are already included. This IC-HRMS is a unique offering and Thermo Scientific Dionex is the only vendor in the market currently benchmarking this.
ICS-6000 HPIC offered by Thermo Fisher Dionex is the only IC platform in the market allowing for amino acid separations — or HPAE-PAD with ternary/quaternary hydroxide/acetate gradients up to 5 000 psi.
