Department of Chemistry at Aarhus University wants to purchase an Atomic Force Microscope (AFM). The instrument will be used for studying the making and characterization of DNA origami structures. A key aspect is to obtain clear and consistent imaging results with the atomic force microscope.

II.2.4) Description of the procurement:

The AFM must have the following specifications:

1) Imaging mode that allows direct control of the tip-surface interaction force in order to facilitate accurate imaging of delicate biological matter at the molecular level and below;

2) High resolution imaging in a non-resonance, oscillating tip mode that does not require tuning of the cantilever resonance, in order to provide ease of use for imaging under liquid conditions;

3) Possibility to extend to electrical and mechanical AFM modes based on the following patents (EP1430485 B1, EP1979913, EP1774389B1, US20060168703A1, US patent 8 650 660, US patent 8 646 109, US patent 8 739 309);

4) Perform atomic force microscopy imaging with unprecedented precision in force control and access physical properties information at the nanometer scale for broader category of materials.
