The procurement involves the purchase of 8 superconducting nanowire single-photon detectors (SNSPD). SNSPDs will provide QUANTOP group with the capability to detect photons with >85 % quantum efficiency and < 1 Hz dark counts, unachievable with different means. The detectors will be used in the coming years in the mechanical Fock state generation experiment, in the warm-atomic vapor (‘cell’) quantum repeater experiment, as well as for the cold atoms/nanofiber experiment.

Explanation:

After market researcher we have found out that Photon Spot is the only company that can provide detectors with simultaneously wide detection bandwidth (780-900 nm), high quantum efficiency >85 % and low dark count rate < 1 Hz, which are the requirements of our experiments.
