II.2.3) Place of performance
NUTS code: DK
II.2.4) Description of the procurement:

In order to perform advanced microscopic analyses on Mesozoic carbonate sedimentary rocks, notably for the understanding of diagenetic cementation phases, Aarhus University wants to buy a Cathodoluminescence (CL) optical microscope enabling us to analyse both solid samples and thin-sections without having to apply gold coating. The complexity of the diagenetic history of the studied samples requires us to have a high-resolution CL images of the whole sample in order to maximise our observations about matrix and cements cross-cutting relationship. As a significant number of rock samples are planned to be analysed, we are also looking for a system being able to perform automated sample scanning.

To fulfil this purpose, the following requirements have to be met by the supplier:

— the device has to be a cold cathode CL microscope,

— the device has to be delivered including all parts necessary for performing CL optical microscope analyses (excluding the computer), i.e. an optical microscope and a CL vacuum stage,

— the sample stage shall be motorised so that the sample position can be remotely controlled on the accompanying computer, which can then be programmed to perform automated scanning of the sample.

Section IV: Procedure

IV.1) Description
IV.1.1) Type of procedure
Award of a contract without prior publication of a call for competition in the Official Journal of the European Union in the cases listed below
  • The procurement falls outside the scope of application of the directive
Explanation:

To fulfil this purpose, the following requirements have to be met by the supplier:

— the device has to be a cold cathode CL microscope,

— the device has to be delivered including all parts necessary for performing CL optical microscope analyses (excluding the computer), i.e. an optical microscope and a CL vacuum stage,

— the sample stage shall be motorised so that the sample position can be remotely controlled on the accompanying computer, which can then be programmed to perform automated scanning of the sample.

The results of the market research have shown that there is only one supplier, i.e. NewTec Scientific, that is able to meet all of the above-listed needs as they are the only company providing a motorised cold-cathode sample stage that can be programmed for automated sample scanning.
