With the purchase of Illumina iScan® system it is now an option to scan and read the arrays from Illumina BeadChip system.

The array system can analyse either single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) or changes in the regulation mechanisms in DNA (methylation patterns). The SNPs gives a relatively cheap screening of an individual’s mutations in the genome. The methylation pattern is crucial in the discovery in effects because of changes in the genome.

Given that we already in-house have the Illumina BeadChip system, only the iScan® system is compatible to the chips.

- absence of competition for technical reasons

Explanation:

In-house, we have the BeadChip starter pack to load, dye and prepare the chips for scanning. Since the chips are unique for the iScan for scanning, only this instrument can live up to our requirements.
