II.2.3) Place of performance
NUTS code: DK042
II.2.4) Description of the procurement:

A series of research groups at Aarhus University wishes to complement their existing research portfolio with peptide synthesis. The span of interests goes from standard SPPS, e.g. of peptides used as bioactive substances in chemical biology, modified peptides to probe new types of bioconjugation technologies, highly modified peptides, peptide mimetics or cyclized peptides for natural product synthesis, chemical protein synthesis via peptide ligation, and several aspects of DNA nanotechnology. It is a common scenario that custom made building blocks needs to be incorporated into peptide syntheses. These many different applications demand an instrument where different syntheses can be initiated, monitored and controlled in a fully independent manner.

To fulfil this: the different reaction vessels on this system needs to have independent heating control and at least in some reaction vessels it should be possible to monitor reactions (e.g. deprotections) real time via UV-spectroscopy. Furthermore, the use of custom building blocks (e.g. obtained from longer synthesis sequences) should be possible, with minimum waste due to the precious nature of such materials.
