According to the European Parliament and Council Directive No. 2004/18 / EC, Article 31. 1, point b, the University of Copenhagen believes that only BD Biosciences can perform an upgrade of our current instrument. Having two functionally identical sorters, will allow us to utilize the exact same protocol for analysis and sorting when preparing samples. This will allow for maximal flexibility, when setting up experiments. Future data and data generated during the last 10 years can readily be compared, as the software and hardware parameters essentially are identical. Software and day-to-day maintenance of the two instruments will be similar, simplifying all procedures for the users. We are getting a significant discount on upgrading our existing instrument under this contract. By having two similar machines from the same supplier a number of advantages are achieved besides technical and functional ones. The two machines will share a number of consumables and spare parts simplifying all maintenance. BD Bioscience will be responsible for all service of the machines, giving us a discount when negotiating service contracts. Training of new users will be simplified greatly if they can be introduced to one type of instrument and one type of software. According to the European Parliament and Council Directive No. 2004/18 / EC, Article 31. 2, point b, University of Copenhagen is convinced that all analyses performed the last decade on our current FACS Aria I are most relevantly compared with the same or similar machine. Only BD Bioscience can upgrade our current FACS Aria I with appropriate spare parts. No other supplier can provide this.
