We intend to acquire a refurbished Agilent 6470 LCMS QQQ, to replace a 14-year old Agilent 6410 LCMS, for which technical support is no longer available. We will use the instrument as a replacement to maintain our ability to analyze purity and identity of our peptide and protein samples prepared in the lab. Furthermore, we will use the more advanced MS/MS capabilities of the instrument to identify and confirm certain specifically modified residues in our proteins and peptides. The acquisition of the instrument will include a 3 year service contract with the supplier.

    • absence of competition for technical reasons
Explanation:

We currently use an Agilent 6410 LCMS, for generating MS data. It is of outmost importance for us to maintain the ability to directly compare data generated on our old instrument with data generated on the new instrument and maintain the ability to analyze old data using the new software. Data generated on any type of Agilent LCMS instrument can easily be analyzed with the software provided by Agilent, while this is impossible with data generated on instruments of different brands.
