Acquisition of a BioXolver Prototype
The intended procurement is a protoype for small angle X-ray scattering system for biological samples, equipped with a metal jet source, a Dectris detector and robotic arm mediated advanced sample handling.
The intended procurement is a protoype for small angle X-ray scattering system for biological samples, equipped with a metal jet source, a Dectris detector and robotic arm mediated advanced sample handling. It will constitute the cornerstone in a departmental small angle scattering facility aiming at structural investigations of drug targets, determination of stability and concentration ranges of new biologics and studies of drug formulations.
Section IV: Procedure
- The works, supplies or services can be provided only by a particular economic operator for the following reason:
- absence of competition for technical reasons
The development of the prototype equipment is a long standing collaboration between UCPH and the supplier SAXSLAB ApS (a subsidiary of Xenocs SAS). Further development of the instrumentation and research into novel uses of the technique will continue for a period of 5 years funded by a grant from the Novo Nordisk foundation with SAXSLAB as a co-applicant, the grant that also cover the acquisition of the equipment.
As the equipment is under continued development in the full project period and includes development of several new experimental applications, it is considered a prototype.
Integration of specialized spectrometry instrumentation already present at KU into the instrument prototype for dual modal measurements, extending practical applications of laboratory SAXS with new development of precision robotic sample handling and software for facilitating automation in fibrillation studies and other areas specific for KU dept of drug design and pharmacology.
