Section II: Object
Acquisition of a Timstof Pro MS System
The timsTOF Pro system comes with a dual-TIMS (trapped ion mobility spectrometry) analyser optimised for high-speed MS — analysis of metabolites. Its unique geometry allows incoming ions to be accumulated in parallel in the first section and for ions to be released dependent on their mobility from the second section of the dual-TIMS analyser.
This result in nearly 100 % duty cycle, making this parallel accumulation serial fragmentation technique (PASEF) perfectly suited for LC-MS analysis of complex metabolomics samples by measurements in both MS and PASEF mode. The timsTOF from Bruker is the only instrument in the market that has both TIMS technology and allowing PASEF acquisition. At CBMR an instrument a timsTOF Pro system was installed September 2019 and with this instrument it will be possible to set-up identical methods on two instruments, a necessity with the number of samples to be analysed at CBMR. The instrument will be used at the metabolomics platform at CBMR and replace a 5-year old Bruker Impact II mass spectrometer.
Section IV: Procedure
- The works, supplies or services can be provided only by a particular economic operator for the following reason:
- absence of competition for technical reasons
The timsTOF Pro comes with the trapped ion mobility, which allows Parallel Accumulation Serial Fragmentation (PASEF) acquisition method to provide extremely high speed and sensitivity to reach new depths in metabolomics, lipidomics and shot-gun proteomics. Bruker is the only provider for such instrument. This technology is highly relevant for metabolomics analysis, both for identification of metabolites in complex mixtures and high throughput analysis of larger sample sets (cohorts).
At CBMR platform a timTOF Pro was installed Sept-2019. With an additional instrument of same type, it will be possible to run with identical methods on two instruments, a necessity with the number of samples to be analysed at CBMR.
