II.1.3) Type of contract

II.1.4) Short description:

The EnSight Multimode Plate Reader will be used as readout system at the newly established High Throughput Translational Hematology (HTTH) Lab. It has the capacity to measure absorbance, fluorescence and ultrasensitive luminescence in both 96 and 384 well format, a flexibility which we require as we expect to run a variety of different functional assays on primary haematological cancer samples. However, the unique feature of the EnSight is its additional image cytometry capability, i.e. the possibility to visualize and count individual cells in a multiplex assay system. This will provide us with an additional level of assay sensitivity, complexity, precision and at the end data confidence, which is extremely important when working with primary patient material.

The Biotech Research and Innovation Centre (BRIC) is an elite research centre at the Faculty of Health, Copenhagen University. It comprises 24 research groups within biomedical research and has a strong and long lasting cooperation with the Finsen Laboratory at Rigshospitalet. Recently, this cooperation lead to the establishment of a new research Program for Translational Haematology (PTH), which a.

Section IV: Procedure

IV.1) Description
IV.1.1) Type of procedure
Award of a contract without prior publication of a call for competition in the Official Journal of the European Union in the cases listed below
  • The procurement falls outside the scope of application of the directive
Explanation:

The EnSight multimode reader is one out of two readers, which offer cell imaging capacities on top of standard plate reader functions. This functionality allows us not only to normalize data to cell count but also data analysis on the individual cellular level. Thus, the outcome will be much more precise and sensitive, which could become crucial as we intend to work with limited primary patient material.

The other available multimode reader with imaging capacity, Cytation 5 (BioTek Instruments) has been evaluated in Krister Wennerberg's previous laboratory and found to be too slow for the kind of high throughput analysis we want to achieve.
