Purchase of a Fatigue Testing System
Aarhus University wants to buy a platform for testing the fatigue behavior of metallic and non-ferrous materials under cyclic loading, to support our research.
A necessity to support our research is to have a platform for testing the fatigue behavior of metallic and non-ferrous materials under cyclic loading.
The test specimens vary in shape, size and fatigue strength.
To generate stress-life curves, both load capacity and achievable load frequency, are important factors.
Requirements for the system:
— 500 kN max static loading capacity and ±250 kN max dynamic loading capacity,
— 1 kN min static loading capacity and ±0,5 kN min dynamic loading capacity,
— minimum 20 Hz load frequency at ±100 kN and ±0,5 mm stroke,
— noise level of pump unit below 70 dB(A) at nominel pressure,
— loadframe with ability to perform axial, 3 and 4 point bending and CT crack growth tests,
— user-friendly software for students to use,
— hydraulic pump unit must be compatible with the existing MTS actuators and MTS service manifolds already used.
The pump unit is low noise and compatible with our existing MTS actuators and service manifolds. The System will allow fast and unattended experiments when generating fatigue data. This reduce the test time and make the system more user-friendly to use.
Market investigation:
Internet search, discussion with industry partners, discussion with sales representative and discussion with colleagues.
